I’ve never claimed otherwise. There’s no real ethical participation in this fandom. I’ve said this many many times. I’m with you on this.

Although given the way tumblr works, that scenario you mentioned is unlikely (it is why I’ve stopped creating content on tt tho, because that is an incredibly real possibility and it functions as advertising — something exacerbated by the presence of the HP brand on the site. my reach here is much much much lower, and beyond the post about the kids I presume you came from, contained to a small number of people. Like you would have seen that post because either you follow those tags or someone you follow does).

At no point do I believe, or claim, that I hold a morally superior position, nor defend my participation in this fandom. Like I’ll never claim you’re wrong here, I agree with you for the most part.

But, that said, it’s an uncomfortable truth that whilst we might want this idea of not participating in a fandom on tumblr to make or break trans rights, they won’t. Our rights are being taken from us either way. Like, I’m still struggling to afford my hrt no matter how many messages you might send trans people about participating in fandom y’know.

Jk’s reach is still absolutely huge, and when all trans people have left this space it will still be just.as.huge — only then people won’t to listen to us, only then they’ll stop caring about profiting her, only then it’ll be without educating. glad you asked! i’m gonna do my best to answer this as someone who took pleasure in feeling like a victim and drowning in my own misery

i: intention

firstly and most importantly imo, i would advise you to decide. decide that you're going to make a change and sit w/ it for a minute if you need.

set the intention by writing it down on your phone or on paper. write your goal and that you're going to successfully reach it—that you have no other choice but to succeed. this is important because when you set a goal for yourself and decide, you're less likely to back off than if you didn't set the intention.

once you get that checked off, continue by doing the following steps (some inspired by ahmadsstory on tt!!):

ii: journaling

i've talked about journaling on my blog before and how you should write down your desires and affirmations on paper, but in this case it's a little bit different.

the best way to fully understand yourself, your feelings and actions, you have to reflect thoroughly and understand why you feel the way that you do. following this, you assess your own situation as if you're a third-person party—step into your desired self for a moment and act like them.

what this does is that it makes you analyze and understand what was wrong w/ the actions you took, thoughts and steps that don't align w/ what you want out of your life. if your desired self is a confident person then they wouldn't be thinking thoughts like: "nothing works out for me" and "i'll never succeed"

iii: the many "why's"

this step is based on the previous—as soon as you list something that is emotionally charged, you ask yourself why, and you keep asking why until you uncover the deeply rooted things that are stopping you from being your desired self.

example:

i felt scared and anxious to raise my hand in class today

okay, why?

because i was scared i might give the wrong answer

why?

because last time i raised my hand i gave the teacher the wrong answer and i was laughed at and made fun of and it made me feel dumb

why did it make you feel dumb?

…

and then you keep going and going until you understand that it was never about anyone but you and your low self-worth. it makes you realize that the problem is never actually the problem.

this strategy really helps you get to the root of the issue and help you solve it. i've done this myself and i have to say, it really works wonders, especially when you take your time and write exactly how you felt using multiple pages.

i like to think of it as having a free therapy session w/ yourself :)

iv: visualization

sit w/ yourself and imagine your future self giving you advice. visualization is a massively powerful tool that can help you understand why certain things are happening in your subconscious.

also! imagine your desired self thriving and living the life that you dream of. what is this person doing? how do they look? how do they dress? etc. etc.

i recently made a post about how visualization is scientifically proven to help you achieve your goals and that it has a vast impact on you both physically and mentally. so use your mind to visualize a good life!!

v: distinction between the old you vs the new you

if you're someone who struggles w/ a bad temper and belittling yourself over small things, such a dropping something on the floor or making minor mistakes, you have to watch how you speak to yourself in those specific moments. is it a typical "ugh, i'm so stupid" or is it a "it's okay—happens to the best of us"?

you have to understand, speaking to yourself nicely and being gentle is so much more important than you think. your subconscious does not care or understand if you're joking or being serious, if you keep feeding it negative input about yourself, then it's going to believe that and support you in that assumption.

so stop playing the victim.

instead, you should begin w/ nice talk to yourself and look for it consciously. whenever you find yourself speaking negatively about yourself say: "no, that's what the old me would say and think, while the new me thinks this" no matter how small this action seems, you're telling yourself that you're not the old you anymore, and it starts the momentum towards your new self image, someone better—happier.

to add on to the fifth point!

whenever you start doing these micro actions, gather proof that you're a new version of yourself, document them and pay mind to them. "the old would do this, while the new me did this"

this gathers new data that your subconscious picks up and uses to determine your new self worth, because if you're someone w/ low self-worth, that data comes from somewhere, right?

it comes from proof you've gathered your whole life about shit going wrong and everything never working for you, but now you have the opportunity to change that and build a better self image.

vi: feeling bad for yourself + sad music

oh boy, how i LOVED listening to sad music and imagining sad scenarios. i know this is gonna hit someone hard, but i have to say—no more sad songs and imagining the most brutal angst.

you have to understand that dwelling on the past and feeling bad to yourself is never gonna stop if you keep finding comfort in it, and music is a primary reason why it feels so good. that's exactly why you need to completely cut out sad music or imagining angst while listening.

first, it's so unhealthy for you. second, if you want to change, you've gotta make sacrifices, and in this case, it's music. i know exactly how it feels, but it works. i haven't felt sad in so long since i cut out sad music and refuse to use it to imagine sad scenarios. you don’t realize how much misery music causes until you really sit and think about it.

⭒ the shift

once you start seeing a difference in your thinking and how you feel about yourself, you're going to realize that you are in fact worthy of success and your desires. you're automatically going to start helping yourself instead of sabotaging, because now you believe you deserve success, and your subconscious is now on your team.

nothing is keeping you from your goals anymore and you're free to have whatever you desire :)

I'm feeling really pissy today lol so I also want to rant about the fact that some people in this fandom take what tarot readers and psychics say as fact and then craft a whole narrative in their heads that generates even more hate. I respect these people but what they say is not fact, it is based on their personal opinions and intuition. I just saw some YouTube comments on someone's reading on Nic and Luke saying that Luke is juvenile, a man-child, that he is resentful of Nicola for all the attention she got from s3, that Nic should completely disassociate from Luke, etc. Do these people not see how harmful this is? I can promise you any distancing that might be happening in public between Luke and Nic is not bc Nic hates Luke or he resents her. If anything they probably have communicated about everything and have some sort of agreement between each other to pull back publicly. Nic and Luke love each other, that is something that will never change. The people who write comments like that and are toxic and overly invasive are the reason why they don't interact publicly anymore. I am sorry but I just cannot imagine any universe where those two are not friends and do not support each other's successes.

Like, it is so ridiculous to thing that people on the internet are going to ruin a six year old relationship. That is not going to happen. And also, the only people who worry about this are the ones who push forward this narrative because it benefits them. One of the worst things about this fandom is how people have monetised Luke and Nicola´s private lives, making TT with theories, tarot videos, entire Youtube channels. I understand that even I have a blog about Polin and Luke and Nicola, but I do not charge people to read my opinions. We know there are people who do and that is disgusting to me.

And yes, the reason why maybe they are interacting less on SM is simply because people go nuts every time they do, and not in a cute way. It makes people think that since they are ok posting about each other, it means they can use that to go say whatever they want about them. That is ridiculous.

The other reason is that simply, this is how it was before the WT. It was. We got so spoiled with content from them that when it stopped, people thought, well, something must be wrong. It is not. People worrying about the birthday messages or the likes... that is insanity. Their lives, their friendship does not exist on SM. Would I have wanted a happy birthday message? Heck, yeah. But seeing how people saw a picture of pasta on Luke´s Insta and thought he was writing N with the sauce... I do not blame them one bit. I know for a fact this crazy thing has bonded them even more because they are both dealing with the same shit. Luke is not jealous of JB and he is not jealous of Nicola. None of them are jealous of each other. They support one another.

man, just going through and queueing my thousandth emduo fan art and considering my emduo writing I'm doing this evening and with a VOD of an emduo stream open in a tab and with emduo art as my desktop background and I was just struck by a thought:

Undoubtedly this would be kinda weird to see people getting this into your friendships.

Like not even getting into whumping characters or aging them down or shipping or doing deep lore and meta of off-hand comments, just like, just the fact that I have been posting emduo art approximately 12 times a day for the past three years. Not even getting into the fact that one of those creators is dead. Like. That's gonna be a little weird to come across in the abstract, if you are a person with a friendship, seeing this friendship be like someone's blog theme. Multiple blog themes. The hashtag updates hourly.

Like I'm sure fandom is flattering, but also, there is undoubtedly a point where someone is like 'oh wait, so your entire hobby is about these characters that have my name? Like you spend hours a day on this? You have art up?" And then they go Oh Dear.

Which is why I think it's just so much greater for everyone if we keep our little derangement in fandom-specific corners of the internet and do not throw it into the creator's face. At all. Even the harmless stuff! Do not TTS about your fanfic! Sharing fan art and cosplay in the designated fan art channel— awesome. Inviting creators into your fandom group chat— boy. Can we not. As much as I am like man I could probably reach so many people, I probably should not promo fandom events in the philza discord! The actual guy is there, saying "here people can request gifts made for them about you" is gonna be weird.

There's just— there's a thing on twitter right now where this artist was making music and videos in a created world with characters, all very dreamlike and artistic, based in their childhood. And because it's the internet, someone wrote/drew NSFW of these characters. And because the internet is the way it is now, people were finding, searching out NSFW content to send it to the creator, presumably so they could take it down?

And I know these people had good intentions, however much I think that they're wrong, but I would argue that sending someone porn of characters based on you/on your kidfic is pretty close to harassment? Like do not show them that stuff. Come on. But the 'tattle to the creator' mentality was too strong.

And the creator, unsurprisingly, did not deal well with this! And then in what I think is a mistake, they have put together a team of people and a google form so that you can report if you find inappropriate or offensive content with their characters and the team will presumably try to copyright strike it. Which. Uh. Again. Is a whole horrible boundaries discourse, is going to lead to witch hunts, and I'm not sure about the legal success of copyright striking fan art and fanfic ANYWAYS.

But like this could have been avoided if instead of going "the creators need to know about this Bad Stuff" people just blocked and moved on. And I think so much more of modern fandom would take a step towards health if we could put more of a creator/fandom separation in place.

Like when I think back to the heyday of DSMP fandom and how these creators— many of them underage— were getting people sending them porn of themselves/their characters, to tattle. Oh look isn't this dark fic too dark. Look how horrible this gore is. This is borderline shipping. People were sending Phil's mods stuff tagged as QPR, because they couldn't get to Phil but he clearly so desperately needed to know this, so that he could condemn it as too close to shipping? Because that is respectful and a great idea?

And like this ranges from stuff where I'm like bro, he doesn't need to know that (small /neg, about stuff that isn't a big dealt), to bro, he doesn't need to know that (LARGE /neg, stop sending the creators porn), because like, okay, yes, you have correctly identified that this would be weird to have happen to you/to a character based on you. What you are missing here is that unless you want to usher in an era of insane copyright overreach that would make disney's lawyers ascend to a higher plane and also kill transformative fandom, there is effectively very little way to stop most of the bad stuff. Those characters are out there, people get to do what they want with them, no matter how much it's in poor taste. All you're doing when you show creators the bad stuff is making them look at stuff that is going to be unpleasant and they can't stop. So, y'know, harassment?

And even the good stuff— I know how to behave myself and act cool in public spaces the creators are in, but if they were to see the full depths of how much of my brain space is taken up by the blocks, I'm sure they'd kinda be left going hahaha you what????? Tomathy Innit was struck speechless by a single person doing a video essay analyzing L'manberg. I see that energy on the dash from dozens of mutuals every damn DAY.

Just like, man. Fandom is just a lot to shove at creators, and if they want to step in willingly that's fine, but I really think we should be so so so cautious about throwing them in bodily when they didn't ask for it. Do not rec family dynamic fics to tommy in his youtube comments. Do not tell tubbo to scroll his hashtag on tumblr. Stop telling Phil about your fanfiction in TTS. I"M SURE THE POSTING YOU ARE ALL THINKING OF IS FINE IN TERMS OF TECHNICAL WEIRD STUFF, but like— even the good stuff! Even the good stuff is a lot! "I was having a bad day but I watched some videos with the friendship in it and now I'm okay" is just a lot to drop on someone! Can we allow creators/writers/musicians/actors/authors to opt into this stuff, and not shove it at them?

You are telling me Dick Grayson , the same guy who turned down a whole rich funding from a shady guy at one point wouldn't care on how Alfred somehow managed to have more money than Bruce Wayne ???? And the only explanation we get is that it was invested WISELY & ETHICALLY?!

Like bro depending on the continuity, Alfred has killed people in his run as a spy in England, he is not too innocent and his definition of morals and ethics can differ ALOT from us.

If TT did act on it other than the bland/low stake stuff he's been doing, we could have had a pretty good stake in the game since that money would matter quite a lot (its too relevant to the plot) and would put Dick into a dilemma on if he should use it or not incase he found out its origins...It would have actually led to Character development...

Like what's wrong in pointing out bad writing? You have to show or atleast show implications for things not just spell it out.... just saying "Character A did good things" isn't enough. You need to show what good things Character A did.

NIGHTMARE FORM REF. Moth Dog. Text on wing is "If lost return to the axolotl" in Color code, Bill code, Theraprism code, and plain English. She can enter this form voluntarily. Usually she will be the size of a large dog excluding wingspan, but if she gets angry enough that she enters this form involuntarily, she will be twice the size of a normal nightmare form Bill- again, excluding wingspan. Test art I did before doing the profile art. Fun thing, her favorite color is yellow, but her second favorite is pink. This is a trait she shares with other TT variants.

We are also against misanthropy and didn't mean to undercut your point about it being wrong to hate someone for their innate identity (which, because we focused on the existence of marginalized humanity and oppressed alterhumans, we might have done accidentally).

is it possible to write and do everything on mobile tumblr even if it's inconvenient? i'm a new writer and i really want to do all what other writers on here are able to do (like the formatting and all those aesthetics i suppose!) but i'm worried i'd specifically need to have a laptop to publish my works as proper as theirs, but since i don't have one i'll have to make do 😞 you seem to be knowledgeable about it so i want to know if it's possible to do everything on the mobile tumblr (just with a little more hassle, but possible nonetheless!) or should i try website tumblr on mobile? i'm afraid it would refresh any time though and i lose progress 😵‍💫

how do people do the wordcounts? i can never seem to get the hang of it, do they write their work somewhere where words can be counted or does tumblr already have that feature that i don't know of? bc if so, i don't know any apps for that (all i really have is my phone TT) and if it's okay, can you perhaps let me in on what you use for it or alternatives on the phone, please? (i'm really a newbie with tumblr and all🥲but i want to be able to navigate it expertly soon :))

i have also noticed that some writers do not have a cut to their work, like you know the 'keep reading' button? yes, i had this fic in my likes that had 30k wordcount and no cut at all and i had one heck of a time scrolling through my likes to find some things whenenever i come across that fic 😭😭😭 i thought that tumblr automatically cuts your work if it gets quite long, but it seems to be done manually if i'm not wrong? 😀

( 001. ) i dare say close to all of that formatting, aesthetics, writing and literally everything a blog needs is 100% possible just using the mobile tumblr!

i personally have never used the laptop for my tumblr besides just looking through my notifs when my phone is on charge. i legit do everything single thing from my phone, even the writing.

though i would say some things require you going back and forth with the web tumblr but it's okay cause it's not like an everyday thing.

things you can do on the mobile app: writing, post layouts(the three picture thing, different fonts, dividers, read more line thing), add the links(in posts), asks(answer and send including pictures and links and anonymous), change your description(including colors and fonts), change your background and accent colors, change your profile picture, queue, schedule and reblog posts, making side blogs and literally anything besides those mentioned below.

things you can not do on mobile tumblr and hence have to use the web tumblr: using colors(including gradient) for your fonts besides the default colors allowed on the app(you have to do it through html post editor available on the web tumblr post editor options), adding links in your description, blocking someone from your side blog, checking your activity status as in how many followers or notes you gained in a day or week or month, mass post editing(which is like editing the tags of multiple posts at once this one you need the laptop!) and that's all i can think of for now but it's the main things.

the chances of losing progress on tumblr is possible whether you use mobile app tumblr, mobile web tumblr or laptop tumblr. best thing is to use your google docs to write and then copy paste it to tumblr at the time of posting.

( 002. ) bingo! you are correct. tumblr does not have the feature to show the word count so writers do use different apps for it. google docs has the word count feature and i use it for my longer fics, wattpad also has the word count feature so for my headcanons and reactions i usually use wattpad.

( 003. ) this one is a bit complicated in a sense, let me explain it in small steps. so when you publish something you always have the option of putting the keep reading cut anywhere you want.

tumblr has this thing where under a specific tag, let's say enhypen imagines tag, in order to not clog up the dash of that specific tag it automatically adds the keep reading if your keep reading cut shows more than what tumblr allows. however all the other places like if anyone has liked it or rebloged it, the post will appear as originally or as presently the post is formatted.

so if in your likes that post is showing the entire fic it means the writer has not added the keep reading cut anywhere. but when you search up the enhypen imagines tag and find the same fic it will show a keep reading cut as per tumblr's rules.

Just a little 'hello & welcome to my blog' post.

Most people have a pinned introduction post & I thought I should probably get on that. This will also double up as a FAQ post too.

First & foremost: FREE PALESTINE! I won't hear any different, go argue with a wall (no it's not performative, as I have been accused of in the past (all because I criticised actors/singers/etc.), I've attended marches, signed petitions, written to my local MPs, attended meetings & help set up fund raising events, so fuck off with your 'performative activism' buzz words, I'm not here for it).

As I run a Stranger Things page, it's worth noting that I do not support the zi0nists/pro-isr*el folks in the show, most notably No*h Schnapp (tagged as 'he who shall not be named (you can blame his stans for that tag)) & Br*tt Gelman (tagged as 'the other 'he who shall not be named''. I honestly think he's downright insane). If you're one of these people that downplays what was said & done by them then this page probably isn't for you. And since some children in the fandom can't tell the difference between criticism and hatred/being an anti, I don't hate these people (well maybe Gelman because he's actively causing my community a terrible reputation), I just hope that through education & compassion they see how wrong & hurtful their words/actions have been.

Thankfully, I've been educated my whole life about isr*el through the Holocaust legacy we have in our family, my great-grandmother having survived it & actively fought against the idea of isr*el, how it's just going end up brainwashing so many youths into thinking they can just turf indigenous people from their literal homes. I've unfortunately been to isr*el when I was a child because my dead beat father seemed to think it was a good idea, even if my beloved great-grandmother pleaded with him not to. Luckily my mom did the right thing & left him & my step-father has been great. He used to blindly support isr*el until he finally educated himself & has felt terrible that this was his mindset for so long. Change can happen, but you need to detangle yourself from isr*el's cluthes & realise that it's more important to protect the real indigenous people of Palestine. Listen to the Rabbi's out in the streets, protesting. Listen to the Jewish Community when we tell you that Zi0nism is a dangerous thing that has weaponised Judaism & played the victim to use as a shield ... okay that got heavy. Moving on!!!!!

Secondly, Hi, I'm Kay (she/her), I'm a veteran of Tumblr, unfortunately. I love watching films, I love to draw, read & have green fingers, yes I'm a plant mama, I just love plants. My prized plant is my monstera because she started off so small & now she's doubled in size. So happy! I also put the B in LGBTQ, I'm very proud of the bi community & love being part of it (biphobes, especially within the queer community, are truly baffling to me - so take your biphobia elsewhere, or better yet, you know, educate yourself? It's not a hard thing to do). I also have crippling anxiety & I'm irritatingly shy, I wish I wasn't but I've always been shy, so if you want to talk to me, you're going to have to be the one to reach out otherwise I'm radio silent (I'm working on it). I'm an adult, so if you're a minor, sorry, I won't be forging friendships. But you're awsome, just know that!

I used to have Texts From Last Night (TFLN) blog for Stranger Things a few years back that was basically the same as this blog (except back then I had thousands of followers *sigh*). I deleted it because a) people were annoying about it, b) people didn't seem to understand that this wasn't to be taken seriously & c) I got chased off the site because apparently labelling Mike as bi was a death sentence. I said fuck it, & deleted. I started it around when season 2 came out & deleted just before season 4. But I'm hoping the fandom is a little more mature now & I can start up with a fresh, new Stranger Things TFLN blog again, mainly because I miss making edits. Making edits helps take my focus off my anxiety. Yay anxiety.

I take texts from the site Texts From Last Night (it's no longer being maintained, unfortunately), then I take screencaps from my own laptop or from a site called screencapped, then throw it altogether (if you want to look at the site for yourself, just a trigger warning, some of the texts are either gross or bigoted - so just a heads up, I obviously filter out those ones from my blog, I don't want that on here).

I do sometimes edit the original TFLN to fit the screencap, so if the original TFLN mentions a name, I'll change the name to say, for example, Lucas or Nancy. I'll change it if it includes ages & place names too, just to fit with Stranger Things. I also sometimes add my own Text to make it flow smoother, for example this one with Steve & Eddie (the post), the original TFLN only had the 'Eddie' part but I didn't think it flowed well, so I made up a 'Steve' text with a made up area code, so it made more sense that 'Eddie' was responding to 'Steve' rather than just having it as a stand alone text (I really over-complicate my descriptions, huh?).

The numbers on the posts are area codes, & the texts aren't colour coded, I just use what ever colour stands out against the background. I also don't do it by ships; I'll find a text that I think is funny & find a screencap that roughly matches up, so please don't request ship/character posts. I'll maybe do submissions at a later date, where you can send in your funny texts but right now, I'm just making my way through the TFLN site.

Not a particularly interesting introduction post but there you go. I ain't got much to say, I guess. But I will say thanks for your support so far on here, you guys seem to be enjoying the posts & that's all that really matters. Much love!
